This is a story of loss.
The purpose of an app is to fulfill a need and make your life simpler. Once you find one, you sometimes take it for granted. You may use the app for years and it keeps performing for you. Then something happens and the app is gone.
Over the years I have lost many of my apps. In many cases, I have continued using an app for quite some time without realizing that it is going away. Such was the case when I finally updated to iOS 11. It was then that I learned that the companies that made a few of my cherished apps were no longer in business and the apps would never be updated.
One app I had purchased converted between hexadecimal and the corresponding floating point value. It didn’t do anything else, but it did it well. When iOS 11 came around, I discovered that the app was no more.
It was a simple app and one day I decided to create my own app. It was the birth of what has become MathRoomBuddy. I used if for a couple years, adding features here and there. Like its predecessor, it has joined my stable of perhaps niche apps that I depend on.
After quite a while, I decided to release MathRoomBuddy into the wild.
